? Aggression from Male marble ray towards female & mating

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
but nothing really has changed as far as tank & maintenance & the tank is looking its best just aggression from Male & the dollars were showing stressed. One of guys saw the male take a leap & almost got a dollar. I have yet to catch them in the act myself but there was some bite marks on them. Now they are out of there. Just the pair & a blk lonely tetra.

Dents are a sign of not getting enough to eat for some reason, or stress. Could be from importing, sick with something, stressed by male who knows..... But if there's a dent I'd seperate, it's the only way to be sure who's eating what. If she's still eating she shouldn't be too much trouble to turn around.

would have to agree after seeing the vid that perty girl is thin no hip bone showing but thin two or three large shrimp and 5 or 6 massivore every day and more should be a good recipe is ahe feeding this well or better ???One other thing the wide bars might have been getting to the food before she had a chance to eat notorious piggies widebars are ....

Thing is she usually was the power eater & would take the food from the male! She is a bit bigger. But male has caught up. Also I have her a good few months now with no problems. I also spot fed the rays after feeding the dollars some dry food because they would take the worms & silversides etc..
I will see how they are getting along & conditions tomorrow morning when I get in.
Right now its gotta be the male being aggressive & mating etc..

thanks for the input

Frequent feeding are the quickest way to pop that dent out. With her in isolation at least you'll know exactly what she's taking in. I'd offer food 3 times a day and be sure to get the uneaten out.

okay yesterday they were better it seemed. They ate Nightcrawlers & some pellets BUt they did not like the Silversides. Now I was feeding this brand before then tried another that were smaller & came in a 2lb pack. So back to the other we were using before & they chew on them & spit them out. Amazing how picky these guys can be about the food given. Oh the female ate some krill but male did not & I think he never liked krill before. Its been while since I fed it to them.

Nice Dave possably widebars stressin those two out who knows....??????They are eating that's number one.....

I dont know because I think the rays harrased them? I think because they are matting & the male has been aggressive has upset the balance. Yesterday she had a good amount of krill but he would not eat! I have a new tub of nightcrawlers coming in today so I will feed them heavy.

Thanks
