I love how they change colors as they grow, sometimes not even ending up the same color as you got them.
Your best bet is to increase your surface area, instead of a 48X18, try to go to a 60x18, or better yet 72x18 or 72x24.....Deep or shallow won't make much of a difference....

I might be able to squeeze in a 150 but she who must be obeyed will probably be annoyed. Oh well won'y be the fist or the last time.

I think I need to go have a chat with my boyfriend about what he's going to call me from here on out.Haha Really.. This wasn't expected? Sorry.. get a bigger tank.. Like 50 more gallons at leastMy Red Devil is now officially the tank bully. He has made his home in on the left side of the tank. I had tried to make a hideout for my pike out of some african root wood, but he took over, dug out the gravel to the glass bottom, and guards this area fiercely. The only problem is that he wont let the other 2 fish have their space. He swims back and forth chasing the other fish from the other structures in the tank.i have a rock cave a fake tree root and I am preparing some more root wood for the other side. I am hoping to keep all my fish safe until I get their new 90gal home ready.
Any suggestions.
