Would like to know if anyone has tried this?

Would anyone be willing to try it?

Let's say the Aimara is 7". Aimapa varient.

I've talked to another member here keeping a small Aimara in a community setting with other fish and it seems to work fine. I also see guys across seas cohabbing this with other predatory fish combos you wouldn't think possible.

Could it be possible that given the right enviroment they may not kill everyone and everything? People were skeptical of rays and Armatus and rays and ATF at first and now it's not that uncommon. So are Aimara just like the other apex Characins or are they just not fit for interaction with anything and best kept in isolation?

Would appreciate opinions....... Preferably sooner then later :naughty:

The one difference I see right off the top is that ATFs and Armatus tend to stay off the bottom where as the Aimara usually sit on the bottom. I know with the VATF and rays my VATF doesn't go to the bottom unless picking food from it. But I have never kept an Aimara so am not familiar with them other than reading other members experiences.

My first impression is that it would not work. But maybe the rays are un-fish-looking enough that the Aimara would not maul them? I doubt it, but maybe?

I guess sometimes when faced with adversity it's best not to be blinded by the current stereo type, but rather what has actually been tried.

I knew someone had done it.

Who's baby does my girlfriend have to birth to get one of those rays? Talk about Potomotrygon sp "unicorn"..... I could die a happy man if I could walk into my living room and see Falkneri topping Boesemani. Too bad they're "just" brown rays...... :grinno:

Hmmm sounds risky, good luck I hope you don't try with some prized bd or something lol

Check the link above...... Imagine trying it with a ray so rare that pics are even hard to find. BDs are a dime a dozen, CB everywhere. Falkneri are something we may never ever see.

The Aimara I had would not tolerate anything moving in his tank. If I moved the driftwood, he would attack. I suppose its all about the individual fish, but I would try it when he is small, and remove him at the first sign of trouble.

I would not risk it.. here's why. Aimara hunt at night. they pretty much hide all day and come out and reek havoc all night. unless you plan on staying up all night sitting the tank, you may wake up to a dead ray! just my 2cents. i would get an Aimara and keep it solitary and enjoy the fish for what it is.
