Aimara with rays?

Anyone else see a potential Boesemani in there?

So we've seen Falkneri and Boesemani in tanks with Aimara. 2 of the rarest Potomotrygon species out there, both very rare and very expensive. Are these people that are mixing them just thrill seekers? Crazy? Stupid? Or just thinking outside the pricetag?

Maybe part of the FW rays great evolution into a flat fish allowes them to be viewed as more of a scavenger then a threat to apex predators such as Armatus and Dorado. Normal fish could be viewed as threats and eliminated while the rays are more of a pest rather then a threat?

We've seen evidence of people doing it successfully and still no hard proof of rays being damaged any worse then what they do to eachother during breading.

The hoplias could get stung if the rays get spooked or the other way around.

But it the same thing can be said about catfish. :)

Would like to know if anyone has tried this?

Would anyone be willing to try it?

Let's say the Aimara is 7". Aimapa varient.

I've talked to another member here keeping a small Aimara in a community setting with other fish and it seems to work fine. I also see guys across seas cohabbing this with other predatory fish combos you wouldn't think possible.

Could it be possible that given the right enviroment they may not kill everyone and everything? People were skeptical of rays and Armatus and rays and ATF at first and now it's not that uncommon. So are Aimara just like the other apex Characins or are they just not fit for interaction with anything and best kept in isolation?

Would appreciate opinions....... Preferably sooner then later :naughty:
Tried it and it doesn't work and if you have any pups in the night they will be gone the next day! The bigger they get the more aggressive they are and the more room they need!

I'm not sure what your problem with me is or why you're acting the way you are, but it's growing old. Going so far as to dig up old threads of mine and start crap in them too? It's obvious you're trying pretty hard to instigate stuff, and it needs to quit. how many threads are you going to jump into and start problems in?

The video of my Aimara and his friends is loading. I trust mine enough to house it with my 4 nicest rays. I got the smallest one I could find for sale so I could raise it with my rays. I have had no issues whatsoever since the start of this thread other then the big rays roughing the Aimara up.

The Aimara was in my big tank for 3 weeks before I removed it after the rays removed several scales. It'll go right back in when it gets bigger.

Your thinking that Aimara can't be cohabbed is only further proof of your narrowmindedness. Just cause it didn't work for yopu doesn't mean it might not work for someone else. Even if my combo doesn't work I would never say never. I know better.

Vid still has a ways to go, wanted to make sure it wasn't a sketchy video so I shot it in HD. ;)

Whatever! Take it for what it's worth. If you knew anything about Aimara then you would know they aren't a community fish! THEY ARE A SOLO PREDATOR! It would be like trying to Cohab a Black Piranha with rays! Doesn't work any way you try it! Do you think they hang out with all these types of fish in the wild? Just shows you know nothing about predatory fish! Not to mention your tiny little Aimara hasn't even hit it's aggressive stage yet! Let me know how it works out for you when its a couple feet long!

Well I do have to agree with this, having kept many species of Hoplias over 40 years of fish keeping, they don't come much more aggressive than the Aimara!

WHAT I DO NOT AGREE WITH is the way you are trying to drag BDs (Alan) name throught the mud all over this forum, bringing this thread up again was nothing less than a malicious act! I have been on this site now for quite a few years and from what I can see Alan is one of the most upstanding honest people on here and he is entitled to his opinion like the rest of us.A person that has not only contributed to numerous threads but created far too many to mention, all of which I might add have been interesting and educational.
Also he has many friends on here which he has gained on merit..."me" for one! I suggest you stop this silliness and get back to contributing to the forum in a proper manner, your obviously a knowledgeable guy with something to offer.
This is a friendly forum with people with all levels of experience so play the game, if your looking to cause trouble then go else where to do it.
Lets all get along,
All the best!

How is what I wrote in this thread dragging anybody's name in the mud? He posted a question and I replied with first hand experience. He can take it any way he wants but don't say I didn't warn you ! Go ahead and sacrifice the rays at the expense of an Aimara Community! Sooner then later the Aimara will have no neighbors!

Blimey do you think you might get a few more fish in there..LOL!! Nice fish by the way, now thats a predator tank!
Stocking levels such as this will ensure none of these fish will grow into monsters, also you have chosen your fish wisely which is good to see.The fish are all of equal size also within reason, heavy stocking also reduces aggression, generally the fish will sustain a few split fins etc but fatalities are rare in busy tanks like this. Give the fish room to establish terrritories and you will see differeces in the fishes disposition...aggression in often based on the situation they find themselves in.
I have found once the Wolf reaches 18"-24" inches they are far more likely to show aggression, I have been attacked many times during tank maintenance....they hit very hard when they do attack!
Love the big Endlicheri (Spelling).

That Aimara is still just small and not even close to what its personality will be like! Not to mention it will never attain it's size in an overstocked tank like the one you are showing.

That Aimara you see is 18"-20" Venezuela speciment, and the tank that you said "overstocked" is bigger than your listed biggest tank! You just have a 6-in Aimara for less than a year, and it's about the same size the one DB has, and you talk like you know everything about Aimara.
