Albino RTC growth rate slower than regular RTC growth rate?

I have a baby albino red tail catfish and I was wondering if the growth rate for the albinos are slower with these fish. Anyone have experience with this? I’ve heard that some albino species grow slower and am not sure if it is the case for rtc

IMO that statement is a farse... Albino fish can and will grow at the same rate as their normal colored counter parts in captivity... There are no reports of true albino RTC...but ur Xanthic rtc should achieve 20-24" in the 1st year of growth. All these albino or platinum rtc's being sold are actually xanthic.

Cool thanks so much, that’s good to know! I purchased the xanthic one over the regular etc because they looked cool and were the same price! Only $10 at my lfs but we’re listed as albinos

justarn with the win on this one.... should have known better with the price of $10 lol... O.P. you should expect 8-12" in the 1st year of growth id imagine. Never had one of these myself... dont see many over 12"-14" tho.

It's accepted that 14" is the max size for these.
Food fish in Asia and we get the runts for the fish trade. Expect 10" in 12 months then very slow after that.
