Albino Trimaculatus

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Yes. I pulled the fry from the tank with the parents because it looked like they were going to spawn again. (They did, BTW) I kept eyeballing the tank. Lots of fry....difficult to see them all at any one time. Some of them looked smaller and "lighter" than others...but really couldn't be sure. I spotted two that were definitely different. They are all around a quarter inch now. Here's how the majority look.View attachment 1286335

Here's a shot of one of the others. I have the two fry in a 20 gallon tank and will try and keep them alive. In the meantime, I have another batch of fry coming up. Need to set up some separate grow out tanks.View attachment 1286336

Awesome! I can see why it was so difficult to tell if they were albino or not. I might be jumping the gun but those eyes look awful Red in that second pic :) super excited

Hey Mo, thanks for posting the updates. Just got caught up on some of the past comments, funny stuff! I had no idea it was 2018 already.

Very cool. Fingers crossed they do well.

Definitely looks promising!
We don't even have access to Trimac over here.
Keep the updates coming!

These are really interesting. They keep the black dusting which means they're not true albino, but they lack body markings and have the faint red pupils. It's the exact way gold severum juveniles develop. Does this mean they're leucistic?

They’re still very small. The dusting isn’t an indication of color. Pink eyes...no color. Albino. The guy I got them from also pulled albino fry from them.

Those are definitely curious! Pretty interesting to watch these grow up :)
