Carefully stick a pond snail on his back. The algae will be gone in a day!

:screwy:
I just hope you were kidding!
My gar stays in one place for so long, that i often think algae could grow on him...never saw it though.

What? Unless the gar decides to do some gymnastics, it could work.

snail would probably learn to suck the slime coat off the gar as well, you should know, or try to find out what happens then.

Pretty simple, actually. The fish exudes more slime coat within minutes and the algae is gone! Heck, the snail might even leave some slime of its own, if aquatic snails leave any, that is.

great! now add a pleco or flagtail to your gar set up and you're all set.

snail may not cause the same damage or be as efficient as plecs of flagtails, but you see where i'm coming from.

other than the 'principle' that i'm trying to put across(slime coat eaters with gar = not something u wan to try), the idea was pretty ridiculour in the first place.

It's not that ridiculous. It would be foolish to add an aggressive slime-coat-damaging species. But a half-inch snail will take its sweet time, and will most likely focus on the algae, and even if he falls off or crawls onto the gar's face, won't do and real damage. Really, I want to know what makes this suggestion implausible in your mind.

WTF?!?!?! why are we even talking about tryin to put a snail on a gars back? this is rediculous and like xander said, why would u put a snail on a gars back?
