Does anyone have experience keeping several females of the same species together?
Smaller cichlids like salvini or nics.

that is going to be a high maintenance tank

Clean out the filters every day
Rocks needs to be color coordinated
You would need to rearrange the decor every now and then
they would complain about the food, the sand, the plants etc...''

stick with males.... less issues. :)

lol.

But in all seriousness.... I'm curious if there is less aggression than a tank with multiple males of the same species.

Interesting idea. Personally I have no clue but it'd be cool to know.

I've seen a couple different species form female/female pairs and protect a nest. But I don't know how common that is.

And I'm sure I've seen one or two species that school in groups of females as well.

Seen it done you just have to be careful when they lay eggs some females aggression can be just as bad as the males then.

They all get their monthly periods together so make sure you do water changes right after or the water gets murky
