S. fryeri is the correct name, but I believe the variant with a white blaze is known as a "white knight". See how this can get confusing when common trade names are used.

Yeah, just seen that, another hybrid variation of S. fryeri.

Is it a hybrid I was under the understanding that it was man made but not hybridized, I'm very new to cichlids So I could be way off.

IMO, 99% of the albinos/OB's, etc, are all man made hybrids. I am on good terms for many years with one of the breeders in South Florida that has created a number of these fish, so unlike those speculating on the internet I am quite certain what they is, and what they is not. lol

Lol got ya, it's a beautiful fish either way, not a fan of the OBs though

My PH is 8.2 right out of the tap. No ill effects on the Loaches.

Mine is pH 8.2 as well, been keeping various loaches for as long as I can remember. Just be careful what species you are considering, the ones that Stephen keeps are pretty robust and can hold their own in an African tank.

Maybe try adding in more protomelas variations, if there are only two types then one might bully the other more than other fish, but it is a 185 so it should work.
