all male tank?? awesome, or mistank?

The thing about cichlids is that your community harmony can change at any moment. With the demosoni being a juvie, he's not going to show aggression until he gets a bit bigger.. more numbers keep this down.

You may have a demosoni that will never bother anyone, but, it's a risky endeavor. I've heard horror stories of them taking out all the fish until he's the only one left. With Mbuna or other aggressive fish, it's better safe than sorry IMO.

I guess time will tell. Hopefully I dont have any problems as I like a mixed variety of cichlids. I like the challenge. My electric yellow is probably the most aggresssive, he chases my yellow fin mbamba.

speaking of which, when can i expect the yellow fin to get his brillant colors, i specifically order a male, i want to make sure i didnt get ripped off!!!

Thanks
Michael

I'm surprised your Lab is chasing the mbamba. Mbambas are usually MUCH more aggressive than Labs, they're about the same aggression as Red Zebras and that's quite a bit more than Yellow Labs.

I think the Mbambas usually start to color up around 2 months.. These guys color up AWESOME!!! when breeding or really dominant. Do you have a picture of him you can post up here? This is one breed that the females are very lame in color when compared to the male. The females usually have pink and/or brown and no blue. As long as your fish has blue in it, it's a great chance it's a male.

He won't really be full color unless he's in a dominant position in the tank. If the lab is chasing him around then he most likely won't color up.

or he's breeding.. but that kinda defeats the purpose of an all male tank eh? ;)

Like I said if he's being bullied he won't show full color. Subdominant males will mimic female colors in an effort to not be noticed by more dominant males.

I GOT HIM AT CHRISTMAS TIME, HE IS ONLY MAYBE 2-2.5 INCHES. THE DEALER SAID TO WAIT UNTIL HE IS AT 3INCHES. BUT I AM PISSED CUZ I REALLY WANTED A MALE!
