Agree with you there on the pima feeding. The next ones I get I will be loading them up with all kinds of live food; fish, worms, crickets, etc. to bulk them past that initial critical stage. It seems that once they are past a foot, they are pretty much good to go.

Definetly. I've heard my fair share of horror stories involving a seemingly healthy pima dropping dead for no apparent reason. I'm going to powerfeed this guy to 8" on live foods, then convert to prepared before adding to the 180g.

Nice fish man, Try and keep a update on the growth of the Pima. I've been fighting buying one for years. (I hope you say they grow SLOW) lol

Sweet fish man!!

Looking good you should have bought my 300 then you could have kept the arapaima a bit longer haha. Parrots look cool to fill the tank if you got a couple big monsters. I like to have a big 26"+ asian aro with a school of a dozen parrots man that would be sick! Ahh we can only dream though

My boy Dylan actually grabbed that 300g from you, so its still close. I think 2010 is the year I finally get a big-boy tank this year. I'm thinking something 8x3x30" from Tenecor. Time and $$$ will tell.

cute little pima.

Haha at the rate this guy is growing, he won't be little for too much longer. I'm hoping his growth rate will slow considerably once he's in the big tank and has to compete with hoards of datnoids, cichla, and misc monsters for food. I'm glad I picked this thing up though, probably one of my favorite fish I've kept to date.
