yeah ive had the same thing happen in an oscar tank after pieces of feeder fish jammed the filter. unfortunate but a tough learning experience. it can happen easily in an overstocked tank.

I suspect some kind of power failure which caused temperature or oxygen issues.

Absolutely, power plug failue caused oxygen cut-off and caused deaths of those fishes

Same thing happened to me when I was out of of town. I had 30 Africans in a 150 gallon. Beautiful fish.

I come home after Christmas and they are all dead. Filter was off, Heater off and the water temp was 45 degrees.

Turns out the circuit breaker tripped while I was out of town. Devastating.

I suggest you get one of these next time you go out of town
