Actually red tail payara or tats are very similar to armatus.
Look almost identical, I wonder if they are same fish.
I have one armatus that looks like your pic above, with red tail and black edge

definately not the same fish, take a look at the sticky

I dun really see any diff between them and my armatus.
Does Tats swims horizontal?

Maybe Armatus have a thicker and bigger head region. Do they grow as big as Armatus?

Totally diff Luc. The growth rate is one of the biggest. Armatus grow with every bite as Tats grow slow. Character is way different too as Armatus swim with confidence and acknowledge you as Tats don't. IMO they are almost 180* apart except for similar looks

OK, so Tats grow to 2ft also? And, anybody have a pic of a big Tat?
