He just left the pond to teach the Armatus, then went back in. He's too comfy in the pond. Started freeking out when I had him in the tank. Yeah I saw Trev's ZOO pic...... I just don't understand why these things are able to reach Armatus lengths in the wild but yet no one has a big one in the home aquarium...... I really need to find some more.

My Armatus are in the same pond as the Rhaph right now but the pond is divided. I'm trying to get my recently aquired 300 gallon up and going for the Armatus.......

yea.
always wondered why myself.
very strange isnt it...
maybe because no on bothers to take care of a raph as well as armatus?

cant wait to see the new tank set up man.

LOL..... The 300 gallon is the little one. I can't use the big one. The landlord would evict me.

I believe the Rhaph's skiddish nature is the reason no one keeps them. Mine is only 12 inches and freeks out in a 180.

armatus are the only ones that get very mean.
tats only occasionally.
by aggressive what do you mean?
by aggressive,I mean, will he eat everything else in the tank and/or fight with other fish of the same size? Are they good tank mates?

they generally hate anything silver.
but most i have seen work well with anything that is slightly smaller in size and not silver.
but there are some that kill anything in the tank.
best tankmates would be the slower moving ones IMO and bottom dwellers.

mine got along ok with my barracuda's.....every once in a while they would go after the cuda......though silver "more appropriate sized" fish are definitely a bad idea - couldn't figure out where my exodons were going until i came home to this, im an idiot.

awesome!
got any mroe body shots?

The silver thing doesn't hold near as true if your Payara don't eat live food..... The only fish my Armatus are housed with are ALL silver.
