I guess im a slacker. I have a 210 with 3 rays and a bunch of other fish. I do one 35-40% water change a week. but havnt had problems so am not going to change my schedule

Thats a lot of water changes. How do you guys change your water? Does the water need to be put into a reservoir/tub/bucket, treated, brought to the right temperature, and ph first?

That's pretty much what I do.
I syphon the tank water out through a nearby window straight into a drainage pipe.
Then I've got a couple of large plastic water butts (linked together) that I fill with a mixture of hot and cold water to get the temp right.
I add conditioner (Seachem Safe) and bicarbonate of soda (to get an adequate level of KH).
I've got a pond pump in the bottom of the butt that I then use to pump the water into the tank via 1" diameter pond hose.

i add prime and then play with hot and cold and go right into the tank from the python

This was what I use to do until I was advised not to. Isn't it harmful since tapwater has chlorine or chloramine in it? Or will it get treated once it gets into the tank by the Prime?

prime treats it instantly.... I've never had a problem this way.....
