Hi guys,
What I believe is really missing on here is a thread solely about doradid catfish. IMO, these are one the most interesting groups of catfish, so they should get a lot more interest from the MFK community!
So what I would like is for every keeper of doradid catfish to post up here and tell us about which species you have, what kind of tank it lives in and of course show some pics ;)
This is my first thread like this so I am not sure how this is going to turn out. In fact, I am not even sure if anyone will post here :D
As for myself, I do not even posess any of these species, but soon I will start collecting the smaller species up to 10" and when I have the luck to acquire a big tank I will also try the bigger species.
I hope someone has interest in this :)

Here are some of mine: 3 Oxydoras niger (3' "Hoover", 2' "Cactus", and 1' "Yozhyk") and 1 Lithodoras dorsalis "Rocky", 1.5'. They are in the basement pond, 40' x 6' x 3'. Hence, bad photos.

Wow, I see you around here quite alot but never knew you had doradids! Those are really awesome :) I'm totally digging "rocky" :drool:
EDIT: I just realised you are the guy from planetcatfish who is building up a big cat rescue. Awesome project and your fish are top!

@Maximus1006: Don't read much into color - these are bad pics. Other than group shots (where one can surely discern doradids), there are shots of only 4 fish, as described. The grey one is Rocky, the Lithodoras dorsalis. Lithos is Greek for Rock. Hence, Rocky :) http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/species.php?species_id=443
 
Lithodoras dorsalis is nicknamed a soldier cat because it has a lot of armor - bony plates and scutes in many more places than Pterodoras granulosus. Browse the datasheet pics on PCF and you will see they are different even to an untrained eye.

I am building a start-up freshwater Public Aquarium from scratch that is intended to dub as a big, freshwater fish rescue and education center, and not just for catfishes. But this is for a different thread. I don't wanna derail yours. We must stick to the topic :)

Pterodoras is probably my favourite doradid, although I love them all :)
 
I have a spotted raphael catfish about 3 inches long with a big fat belly, and he looks awesome, like a spiny armored beast. I love how raphael catfish swim, slowly bending from side to side kind of like a shark... makes it look like a huge fish in a huge aquarium instead of a small fish in a small aquarium haha too bad I barely never see it leave its cave, although that makes it all the sweeter when it does happen.
 
Nice! Spotted raphaels are one of the species I am considering for my tank :)

Yeah, the way they swim is quite awesome, although they don't do that often ;)
