Have parents become "soft"? I sure think so.

.

I was in the park yesterday with a bunch of parents i would definitely deem soft...borderline reckless..... play ground had two exits that alone is enough to be on your p's and q's... sadly most of the parents were busy staring at their phones instead of watching their kids

a few more really good posts in here today.....

I did a bit of thinking and didn't come up with much else, except that every place in the world has some type of danger or another, regardless what it is. I can't think of anywhere that is 100% safe and has nothing you can hurt yourself on - from slipping on a wet floor, to getting hit by a car, to heat exhaustion, sunburn, parasites, stray dogs, venomous snakes, hypothermia, .....you name it, it can be dangerous.

You can get electrocuted by your own fishtank appliances, your heat sources for your lizard cage can start a fire, a plane could crash into your house and you could walk outside and get hit by a bus. The danger is everywhere - it's our job to use our Self-Awareness to avoid that type of stuff.

We will always have dangers no matter how safe we "feel", ......and we can't protect our kids from the world. Eventually at some point they are going to go exploring it and just like we did, they are going to have to use their better judgement and common sense - all we can do in the meantime is watch them and prepare them for it by properly educating them.

Other than a parent, nothing is a better ally for a kid then a good education.

I found this image earlier and thought I'd share it here.

haha it's not even an alligator, it's a crocodile ;)
Good eye Punisher,I don't think I would have ever spotted that on my own.
I remember years ago back when one of my favorite shops was still open and they had Nile croc hatchlings.I was never crazy about the idea of owning a gator but I sure wanted one of those baby Niles.

They actually sold nile croc hatchlings, that would have been a hefty food bill..... "ignore the cow honey its scruffy's dinner"
