You.mean to tell me that they shouldnt have posted something stating beware gators ? Cmon there is a splash pad not far from the shore. Unless you actually have kids you have no idea how fast things can happen. Kids could run off into that water in the blink of an eye
Kids can run off when parents aren't staying on top of them. IDK man, I look at that body of water and I assume it has alligators, how could it NOT? Look at the SIZE OF IT???!!! Ok, I hope they put up some signs for the mentally retarded, but people with working brains should know better. I'm sorry, but I have seen waaaaaayyyyy too many parents who just let their kids do what they want and when I say "Hey, is that your kid over there doing that?" and they say something stupid like "OHHhh, they don't listen to me anyway, they're so bad and don't behave"

What am I supposed to say "Oh ok, well that makes it alright, maybe someone else will fix it for you - just give up and don't even try anymore."

Tell me, how many parents have you seen like that? They're just perfectly content that their kids won't listen or behave and just stop trying to discipline them. Regardless if we can put some blame on Disney, i'll give the benefit of the doubt. What about all those parents like that?

It's not ok. Now other people have to put up with their little nightmares too??? Off-topic a little, but still relevant. Nothing like a nice peaceful relaxing day in Nature........until all the damn screaming kids take over and you have no choice but to leave so you can get rid of the migraines. No point in staying, Wildlife ran away long time ago.

The point is, they run off, that's on you. It's your responsibility as a parent to stay on them. If you don't, who will?

Parenting is a job for life. You can't just give up or say it's someone else's fault, your kids and the amount of discipline they have reflects you as a parent. Everyone with kids needs to understand that.

All this thread is doing is making more and more parents think it's OK to allow stuff like this to happen. FORGET the signs and liability. WHY weren't the kids parents being parents? He fought a 6 foot alligator and LOST???!!! U gotta be KIDDING ME - I have personally subdued 6 foot gators and it was very one-sided via me.

I don't think I believe all the facts presented. A 6 foot gator should be a JOKE to a grown man.

Your a good dude frank... but you have absolutely no clue what your talking about. Any parent on here says that they never got overwhelmed or lost track of one of the kids for a split second is totally b.s.ing

Wait til you have two children under 5yrs and you havent got a decent nights sleep in a week...

2 parents, 1 kid, wading in ankle deep water, Father fought with the gator and lost ?.......in water they weren't supposed to be in, so the kid was following Dad's irresponsible example

and teaching his kid the rules don't apply to them also

It's not about being mentally retarded. It's about being a little nieve and ignorant to the areas wildlife. Yeah most people have heard about alligators in Florida but this isn't some backwoods hill billie marsh. That is where someone who's not from Florida or never been to Florida would expect to find alligators. Not at some luxurious resort lol.

It's a big area to fence, I'll give them that. But no signs at a tourism hot zone by waters known by the resort to have gators....come oooon.
