if you feed it the minimum amount of food that it need, the gar should grow up to 18'' in 1 year(considering you will get it at about 4-5''!)thats truewell, would you happen to know how fast the alligator gar will grow in my 100 gallon tank?

the fish will come in within three weeks or two! will post thoughAlligator gars can grow really fast if you power feed them. They will try to eat everything once they get a foot and since their mouth can widen out they can swallow bigger things than you can think. I lost a Black Ghost Knife (eaten) about 2 weeks ago and lost a Clown Knife (killed) this morning. The clown was the same size a the gar while the BGK was about 3/4 the size of the gar. Gator gars have nasty teeth as well so be careful once they get large.

I know little about can you help me out?Bad idea man, had a Gator gar in my 90g growout and he reached 15" in 3 1/2 months from 6". Never seen a fish grow that fast and I've raised RTC, Armatus, TSN. Not even close. He also ate a 11" Florida gar at that size. Very bad idea. Depending on if its true Gator gar.
