Yeah...yet another case of purchasing an animal without doing enough, or any, research ahead of time regarding its needs.

The internet makes it simple to get information, even while standing in front of an aquarium in a store. Too bad that many people use it to hunt for the answer they wish were true...which, unfortunately, they will often find, whether or not it is true.

I genuinely hope, for the gars sake, that this guy comes back on and listens, and takes on board the advice given. But his two posts so far are both from this thread, and he hasn't been seen since last Monday!

I sincerely hope it's not one of those cases where someone comes on with a question, doesn't get the answer they want, so they disappear and go somewhere for a second opinion.

It all comes down to research and making the right decisions for the animal you intend to get in an effort to keep it happy long term.

Quite sad. Poor gar.

I'm already making arrangements with the public aquarium to take this fish.

I was deceived, i bought a spotted gar, and they brought me an alligator gar

There are a bunch of folks who post their DIY pond builds on the site..... maybe try to make your own, I assume outside won't work because of those frosty Russian winters.
