alligator snapping turtle

I'd like to try one. But snappers are just one more critter I have never seen for sale in my area. I don't think they are restricted. Just no interest.
I don't want to try mail order either. Sucks for the turtle to get held up at customs for a few weeks, sitting in a cargo can/oven. If they'll even let it in.
And I have no faith in Canada Post anyway.
You USA guys are more lucky than you think. You have some restrictions I don't, because of environment. But I have even more restrictions because of limited population and no market interest.
Maybe I can order from a specialty independent LFS?
Or drive all the way to Vancouver to pick up a little turtle hitch hiker to ride shotgun, next time I sneak in a trunk load of weed.
Weird. Dope is illegal but it's growing in my neighbors rose garden, next to the biggest Pit Bull on the planet.
Reptiles are legal, but I can't find them.
That's free market economics in action.

I had to move a 20# snapping turtle off my driveway this morning.
I live on a lake, and they're climbing up to lay eggs right now.

Eggs! I could order eggs. They would ship better.
But anyway, while at work I was thinking "Hey, stupid...the LFS doesn't have turtles, because the sell FISH!" So I need to look in the LRS. The LFS does have some basic selection of reptiles, and tarantulas. But I should visit reptile specialists.
Duh!
