So I read oak do the same thing with lowering ph with humic acids. My question is do they have to be dry when use or still green?

Hay, we're, not hijacking, just expanding and exploring! Lupin is telling you yes.
Koji would (i think) agree because he uses it. others would say no, I'm middle of the road, if it doesn't kill my Clown loaches and helps then I'd use it for my fish as a spa once a month maybe.
I used to use it for bettas all the time.

It will not kill your clown loaches. Their water goes as acidic as 4.0 in the wild with a KH of 3 or less.

I cant figure out what specie of oak I have in my bad yard. I looked at site that did a study on ph of leaves. Anyways oak can go from ph7.0-4.0. I guess you add then test to know how much to add or make the water first separately before adding?
