i have a betta too, and its not n a bowl. i think that is just cruel. i dont see any need at all to put in a betta forum. like dannyboy said "this is about monsters" just my opinion.....

There is nothing wrong with using the word lady, or any other female reference, it is a problem only when you use it to bring something/someone down. Which you obviously did when you said change the forum from monsterfish,com to ladyfish.com.danny boy said:

I know I'm new here and all but I raise and breed Betta's from vail tail,crown tail,half moon double tails. I know there not a huge fish or as mean as some like on here. But I thought the whole tought behide a forum like this was to teach and help thous of us who need help how to do it. I love my betta's and oz. for oz. the betta is a monster in it's own way and size.
It my not grow up to be 18 to 24 inches in size. But it still non the less a monster no matter how you look at it the fighting strain of the betta can't be breed out of it. It's still one of the most inported fish in the world. It has been sents 1910 the betta of today is bigger and bader then ever before. It not just any fish that will fight with another just because it's in a tank with one of it's kind. it will continue even after the other fish has gave up not just to cause damage but to kill it's aponent.
Now if that's not a monster then what is. It's not the size of the fight but fight in the dog. Not only is it a killer but it is oz for oz one of the deadlyest fighter around. So I say to each there own and to those who keep the big killers let there killer come to the size of a betta and then my the best fish win. I'm not saying that we need to make a place for the betta here but as long as there are people here asking question about them shouldn't we as menbers help them when we can.
Not put them down because of there choosing a smaller killer then we like ??

POint is, I am a male and I breed and keep betta, and the fact he said that is just stupid. There was no point or reason to say ladyfish.com, and I am sure he realizes that, end it there?
as far as people saying "keep it monster fish only" its an aquaria forum, so I don't really agree with that either, it was advertised in AFM, fish is a fish is a fish, talk about monsters just like the site name but don't get all weird when they aren't.

Fighters are, at the least, excellent starter fish. I have kept many a betta for 2-3 years at a time in my childhood 5g tank. And the interaction and enjoyment experienced, such as training one to jump and eat food off the finger, only created the desire to learn about and acquire new fish.
Betta info on this site would be a good 'foot in the door' for many aspiring fishkeepers on the web. Any threads that will attract new folk, and help the hobby continue to grow, must be a good thing.
However, being MFK, a SH forum would probably be more deserving.
