Am i a bad MFK?

so i have had my pbass for about 6 months now in a 55g, i got him when he was about 4in now he is about 6-7in.. when at a LFS today they told me next week they are getting in a couple AGTF and 3 arapaima... and well they offered me 1st dibs on them... i really want them but getting them would mean i would have to get rid of my pbass... am i a bad fish keeper for trading in my fish? i am in CA so these fish are hard to come by...

anyones advice would be great please!

Arapaimas grow to extraordinary sizes... It can survive in a 55g for a very few months.

Do you really have a plan for those fish or is it the 55? Unless you have a 1,000 gallon waiting to fill do not do it.

i have the 55 gallon untell i move in 5 months, when i am getting a 240 then move up from there as needed

yes i can, i am on a 2nd floor apartment right now, but will be moving in 5 months

None of those fish will be alright in a 240 long term. You should wait UNTIL you actually have a large tank before buying fish.

why not just contenue to upgrade as needed? so i should put a 4in AGTF in a 1,000g tank? really?
