Am I Crazy or Could This Possibly Work? - Goodbye Water Changes

He's stubborn. His way or no way - humidifier drip or no drip at all.

Did he not give actual reasons, or did I miss them?

When one is confronted with facts but choses to ignore them, thats not stubborn or ignorance. At best it's irresponsible, however I personally would call it stupidity.

I would like to have him read this thread and have you post his response.

You seem like an intelligent well spoken young man.

Can't exactly respectfully ask him to read this thread once this was posted :)

Yes it will work, just have one small algea eater , a snail, with 2 clams. And a 300 watt reefer grow light.

My step dad was like that. It's not possible to change his view, it's his house so it's his rule. You can tell him the water from the humidifier is toxic and not safe for animals. That's not going to change the fact he won't allow the drip. You will not change his mind and there is no reasoning with someone like that. Angelphish Angelphish for your sanity and the health of your fish you will have to tear the tank down when you go to collage. Sorry buddy. Leaving it in his hands will result in death and bad feelings trust me I have been there. Don't be pig headed like him listen to reason and save yourself the grief and future relationship with your father.

Why not? If I am being an idiot and someone shows me where I was incorrect, I generally apologize and claim low blood sugar and I was just hangry. But for real, if someone can't take factual criticism, then that isn't my fault.
Fact has nothing to do with it. It has to do with tone and respect.

Agree ^.

Ime, being both the abused and the abuser, I've slowly come around to understanding that conversations don't progress with name calling or subjective negative characterizations. Focusing on the issues, not the person, is a better recipe, imo.

Intelligent, informed, well-meaning people disagree. Happens all the time.
