am i over stocked :)?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
well you might want to throw on a FX5 or 2 with the w/d to help with filtration...

it sounds like it will get pretty cramped in there though...

Umm, i can get you a pic but theres a big peice of drift wood and it cuts off half the tanks so you wont see about 30% of the fish.

The perims are all good
and my nitrates at 20 right now.
I'll probably do another w/c tomorrow, and then add all the new sponges monday.

The tank isn't over stocked when you look at it. But I've seen the trusts tank so i know mines not over stocked yet :).

If you have no ammonia or nitrites, and your nitrates are staying fairly low (20 is really good) don't worry about it.
Are your fish bumping into each other? Do they seem stressed? Do they seem really cramped?
Are you having to do more maintanance than you can handle to keep the water parameters in line?
Overstocked is relative to who you ask *shrug*.

nah they seem fine. the agression is minimum. but every now and then my flower horn whos the smallest like to take on the pair of Pbass in there.. Than all hell brakes loose for about 10 seconds. and it settles back down. no one messed with the pleco though, or he will ram them ( 16" beefyyyyy pleco = master )

You seem ok for now. When everyone is full size you might have issues, but at the moment from what you've said you're not overstocked, IMO.

I plan on moving a couple fish out, for example

My peacock bass don't leave eachothers side, and tend to both stick up for eachother, so i believe they are a pair. So those will be moved into my 180gallon. and I'll probably end up getting rid of the sun fish and putting them in a native tank, once i have the time to make another tank.

I'll be upgrading in about 2 years to a much bigger than 360 gallon tank. So they just have to last that long :)

In my opinion as long as the fish have room to swim without bumping into each other and you have low nitrates with no ammonia or nitrites then your good to go..

Id rather see a bunch of fish crammed into a little tank and nitrates kept it check than a fish with a lot of room in a big tank with nitrates through the roof due to lack of waterchanges...

When I do water changes, I drain about half the tank. and I do this about twice a month. I use a 55gallon aged water barrel to fill it up and about halfway through i start putting tap water into the watter barrel with prime.

you only do water changes twice a month?

50% twice a month, on the average, thats dosn'y include if i get bored and take a little outa the sump and fill it back up with aged water.

So in reality its more like 75% twice a month.

Its alot of water also.

I still not gona believe its over stocked till my tank is like jeds :). Than i will call it quits. I'm commen for you trust!

Why make this thread when you will not be convinced that it is overstocked?

Not saying I think it is overstocked neccessarily, but why ask if you already have the answer in your head?
