Am i Panicking!?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
but definatly get him a bigger tank tomorrow, maybe a 40g breeder or 55gal just something where he wont foul the water so fast and where he has a little room to swin around, being all closed in like that in a 10gal tank has got to be putting stress on him as well which can lead to all sorts of problems

oh and just out of curiosity, where do you live?
i see your location says canada, where abouts ?

No tank mates.

I have no water parameter accessible to me. But this is what i did.

I got a 10 gallon tank so that I can isolate him first and not mix it with other fishes...Just in case. I asked for ALOT of water from the original tank he was housed in and brought it home, and placed that water till it was 50 percent of the tank, to make it as less stressful as him. ( I did this under the impression that this simulated his natural habitat with a 50 percent water change)....

So this is the current setting...I'm going to get a testing kit 1st thing in the morning...and see if there is anything wrong...Whats your guess?

so what is filtering this tank.... this is not a good set up im gonna say your water is not in good shape

Yes. Only for 1-2 weeks. He was never quarantined. I picked him up, 3 days after it arrived at the distributor.

whats in the 100 that he cant go in there??? i would just put him there..

I have a 100 gallon, with my other fishes. I used to take care of a stingray for more than 6 months in a 20 gallon b4, because i was poor.

I'm not too sure of mixing him in immediately...do you suggest that?

yes i do

Yeah... Catch 22 :( Get a bigger QT tank tomorrow then? Not too expensive though, can't afford much more....will 30 gallons be enough, or minimum 50?

I know that they need a minimum of 75 gallons to live in..but what about for qts?

large rubbermaid container works great

265 to 300...damn thats a year of saving...I'm just hoping that I could save faster than he grows!

I've often used a 10 gallon QT tank because this enabled me the abilitity to port 50 percent of the distributors' water, and hence an "easier" acclimitization...not sure if my theory holds though.

provided your water Q dont go south you will have a few year a min of 3' width is needed for a motoro.. 6x3 or 8x3 foot print bigger is better and ponds are cheaper

Haha :D yeah, I do plan to water change everyday. As for all my rays before, I did 10 percent water changes everytime i fed them :D then once a week 30 percent. Hope the oldschool low tech methodologies still work :D

Yeah, no shrimps yet. ghost shrimp...maybe though :D will get him 1 tomorrow. See if he becomes friends with it, or eats it :D either or, its his choice :D Win Win for me :D

so what are you filtering this tank with??

2 100gph marineland biowheel. 10 percent water changes everyday.

HBRTG + IT and Fly river Turtle (my last 2 years entire savings)

I used to live in the philippines...hence the poorness before.

Now I'm in BC vancouver.

Hence the poorer

But I can save! And I got time!

I should make this my sig...

Psssh expensive setups! waterchange everyday!
