Am I paying too much for rent?

I'm not sure about prices in college park, but I'm paying about 50% more in silver spring for a 1 bedroom. It appears our income is a bit more than what you posted though. Cost of living in DC is crazy. I think the general rule of thumb is approximately 25% of monthly income (1 weeks pay) is what you want to spend on housing per month.

Thanks for the welcome! I have actually lived in Brookeville, right next to Olney (Montgomery County) my entire life, and am now moving to Southern Maryland. I am moving to Lexington Park.

Oh sweet. If you are a beer drinker, there is an AMAZING bar off of GA ave in downtown SS. It's called the Quarry House, kinda hard to find. It is on the corner of GA and Bonifant Road. Basically, you just go down these random steps on the sidewalk, and enter the Quarry House. No sign, no website, nothing. Really really cool bar. They have a 15 page beer list, as well as a massive whiskey list.

Monday nights are half-priced burger night, with a 1/2lb burger running about 4 bucks. Best bar-burgers you will ever have!

Hells yea...If you love micro-brews, you will LOVE this place. Let me know if you try and find it, but can't. (It is REALLY easy to miss) If you can't, I can always run down there with my girl, and meet up w/ you (and your girl, if there is one), and show you the place.
