I have just set up a 500g Costa Rican biotope with Septemfaciatums and Nicaraguensis. There doesn't seem to be a lot of people keeping them, so information and inspirationis is hard to come by. Its great to see your set up and little gems.
Thanks for sharing.
Where'd you get yours? I'd love to see your tank. Do you know which locale yours are?

I have no idea on the local, I'm hoping you can help with this. In Australia I was lucky to stumble across these guys at all, I have 6 in total, the female has only just started colouring up over the last couple of weeks.
What's your thoughts?

Unfortunately I'm not sure what's been exported to Australia, in the US we have four locales, but only two circulating around at the moment. Only way to tell the difference between the ones here is their breeding dress. The limon ones are the easiest to distinguish in the US, as they have the black barred breeding dress (they're the only locale of this variant that has been imported). The Rio San Jose and Rio corinto are the same fish pretty much, as both are offshoots of the Rio sucio. They have the purple and blue breeding dress, seen below:

San Juan, iirc, has a black breeding dress like the limon variant, but no bars.
Yours are very nice, whatever they are. I wish you luck with them. Your males should grow huge in the 500.

Thanks for the info, I did stumble across a video of underwater habitats in Costa Rica and there looked to be the same colour form as mine in the Rio Fortuna.

Have you seen yours in breeding dress? All the locales look the same in normal coloration.

No I haven't seen them in breeding dress, I have only had them for 6 months and they were tiny when I got them. I am very keen to see how things develop as the large male and female are just starting to show interest in each other.
FYI, I found videos on you tube by Pierrard Paul-Emile that shows a nice variety of Amititlania species in the rivers of Costa Rica. If you haven't seen them already.

I'll have to check those out. I normally watch the ones from Hans Van Huesden.
Edit: seen those already, I love his video on the myrnae.
