damn would be a shame if some kid tossed a baby pongee into your pond while you were away... or what about a box jelly fish O_o

That's ridiculous. Pongee (snakeheads to us on the mainland) aren't ferocious enough or large enough to take on fish much larger than they are, especially as juveniles. Growing up in an environment with a regular feeding schedule and lots of nutritious food, it's unlikely any fish without a giant mouth is going to eat another fish. The biggest channa only grow to just over three feet in the wild. Really only the rays and maybe a couple small cats would be in danger. I can't name 15 fish in their tank that the largest, full-grown, essentially pond-raised snakehead would attack and kill. Most species of channa grow to less than 2'. A 6' Aba Aba might be a different story.

Wow, I'm really surprised at the amount of criticism dished out on someone who obviously has provided an awesome of a home to his fish. He's taken precautions to try to keep some of the smaller ones from getting eaten or the more passive ones harassed, they live in a huge pond, and it looks like they're getting a wide variety of food.

To the people who can't understand how you don't realize how many fish you have... it happens. There is a point where you just lose count, and sometimes forget you ever even brought the fish home after a couple months of not seeing them. His fish obviously have a lot of places where they can happily hide. Also, it's not like they just line up and hold still while you do a head count. Even keeping a written log of every fish ever put in and every fish found dead, it would be impossible to keep track of everyone.

I'm searching your threads, as I really want to see more pictures of your set up. A big pond is in my future and I am starting my research now. :)
