Im thinking somewhere inside the driftwood there was some water trapped and he survived in that. Amazing survival story though.

The piece of wood was really heavy when I bought it. Here's a pic of the driftwood it came out of.

I have 5 other CL's but their a lot bigger than him. This one hides all day and night.

Based on the pic of the shovelnose cat next to the drift wood, I'd say this CL is definately toast if it isn't removed ASAP.

Actually I moved the wood to another tank today but he's still in with some predators. Can't seem to catch him.

This little clown loach is amazing. It survived all the predators until today. Now it doesn't have to worry any more. I finally caught the litte buggar and put him in my daughters 20g tank. Thanks again to everyone who posted here.
