I got my Amazon tree boa just a little bit ago! :headbang2

He is a CB 2011 male (not even a month old) from DTS Herps, Inc. and looks like he'll develop a pretty cool pattern as he grows. I also think that he's going to be pretty good venomous snake practice because he's displaying the typical "I want to bite your face off" attitude straight out of the box.

I'll post the unboxing and transfer video once it finishes uploading to YouTube.

wait i used to have a green tree boa and they are constrictors on venomous snakes

Yes, I do realize that. He's practice for when I get a venomous snake as per the recommendation of those who keep hots. I mentioned in the video that I would have done a few things differently (used hemostats to open the container, etc.) if it was venomous, but I currently don't have some of the necessary equipment.

I just saw him stretch out all the way in his current enclosure; he looks to be about 24" when he's all stretched out yet looks tiny when he's all balled up.

I also have his more permanent grow-out cage almost done; I just need to add a few small branches, and it should be good to go. On that note, Dracaena plants and basking bulbs do not mix; the one I had under the light is already browning, so I had to change the light layout.

Here's a few new decent pictures of him. As you'll see, he has a thing for climbing up the hook's shaft no matter what I do; he always seems to stop and perch once he reaches the grip, though.

I'm really hoping that he'll retain most, if not all, of his present coloration, especially the red-orange on his back and underside. He looks a lot better in person although the diamond pattern on his sides is pretty tough to see. I couldn't find anything on them undergoing a color change as they mature, so if someone could shed some light on that matter it would be greatly appreciated.

Great pics!! Cute guy
