Very nice! Perhaps the reason you didn't see him go opaque is that he already cleared up? Darwin goes opaque, clears up, and after that waits a week or two before he sheds.

That must be the case; it never went opaque while I had it. I'm used to the burms going opaque for a day or two then shedding in a day or two, though, which is why it seemed weird to me.

He ate a warm F/T pinky today and actually went for the head for once! :headbang2

I wasn't able to get any decent pictures because he went and hid in the Philodendron after striking the pinky. It didn't take him too long to down it either; he just bit it, squeezed it a little, realized that it was dead, and then proceeded to swallow it.

Quick update:

He's coming along nicely and appears to have grown a little; his red-orange "saddles" are brightening up so hopefully he'll retain them.

One problem is that he's becoming far too tame for being decent practice for a hot snake, so I've rectified the situation: I got him a pretty red older girlfriend today at a reptile show. She's pretty darn mean and bit & crapped on the vendor multiple times when he was sexing it to be certain of the gender; I think she'll be very good practice since she's probably not going to damn down much, if at all, because of her age. To give you an idea of her temperament, she launched herself out of the tub she was in when I opened it a little when I got her home. :D

Pictures of both snakes will be coming soon.

I'm working on setting up the female's display cage; I'll have pictures of both snakes once she's in there. I'll be moving her in there as soon as it's done rather than waiting because it turns out that she's CB as well; she was from a WC female that came in gravid. I've also determined that she's at least a year old based upon her weight (~103 grams) and length (~36").
