I am not into Bottled Bacteria myself.

Feed every few days for now.
Change water to keep ammonia in check until natural bacteria forms
Condition with Dechlorinator & perhaps that stuff I cant think of right now that promotes slime coat. :nilly:

Consider adding a bit of salt to the tune of 1 tblspoon to 10 gal.

Crap, I have been using Amquel for years.. that is ammonia reducer ?!

I am really worry, my heater had goen bad last week, and took the temp up to 90.. and my sump was giving me problem, i had replaced both parts.. not this ammonia thngy

Should I try Ammo Lock? Stress Zymes? I had done 3 water changes within the past 8 days..

These are things that should have come out a little earlier back.

Get the water tested for everthing you can, including disolved oxygen.

1) I say clean out your filter (gently) in used tank water and reinstall, with that running add some bacteria-in-a-bottle (stress zyme) to the filter per directions.

2) Stay on the reduced feeding, but don't starve the fish

3) Do 20% W/C's for 5 days straight

4) Do you have a HOB filter that you could fill with zeolite. This way you are removing ammonia but not starving the W/D filter.

5) Test the tank chemistry daily.

6) Sixth day turn off the HOB in the A.M. and test the water in late afternoon and compare with previous readings to see if things are working to the better or not. Turn the HOB back on and continue testing daily... You are working towards an established biotope.

7) If at anytime the chemistry goes to far out of balance go to 40% W/C's to bring it back.

Now I want second and third opinions as I've come down with the flu and am not sure I'm remembering everything. I think it could be the fever. Trying to do this with the fish is a touchy thing at best.

Sorry Lil_Stinker, I zoned for a moment, and our paths crossed. Check my post and add it all up.

I agree with the salt @ 1 teaspoon per gallon max.

Are you sure 1 teaspoon per gallon ??
Thats like 3+ tablespoons per 10 g (I guess thats fine, I did 1 tbs/5g)

& yes Stress-Zyme was what I blanked on...

I Just got home.. I had a jungle test strip. the reading is at 3.0

I also placed a Seachem Ammonia monitor inside the tank, the reading is save (Light yellow)

I am feeding my fish a little bit... show I still continue changing water? i dont have any stress zyme, would cycle work for now?

Just changed 20% water... added cycle/ salt. novaqua.. no amquel

I will update situation later.

Thanks Guy

and Dr. Joe, take care.. get some rest... I hope you will feel better soon.

Thanks LiuHsi, I'm trying to, just can't stay away from the computer ;)

Lil_Stinker: I was just trying to ease into the salt without shocking the fish. If it was a desease I'd go the regular route. That's my fevored reasoning. :)

Keep us posted,

Ammonia is coming down a little now.

Can Some one explain whats the diff between Cycle and Stress Zyme? how about this other brand called Fritz Zyme # 7?

Thanks

Same thing different company, Ford vs Chevy etc.

Obe person comes up with an idea, it makes money, so others jump on the boat and sell the 'new & improved' version. Oh well atleaast it keeps them trying to improve things (doesn't always happen tho)
