Not sure why I felt the need to take these photos but here's a few of the damage inflicted by the female (or Black Widow as she will now be known!)

Those of you with a delicate disposition may want to look away now .....

First shot shows the fatal wound into the middle of the stomach
Second shot shows a slash to the left of the mouth
Third shot shows the only wound that went all the way through.
Fourth shot shows the ray next to a 24" rule

Sorry for your loss. I can't believe this happend. I've seen my female poke at my male when he bugs her but never so aggressively. I hope your female is pregnant again and gives you 5 more amazing pups.

So sorry its come to this Martin,as i said on my previous post, so long as the stomach area was untouched it should recover,sadly this wasnt the case,you dont keep rays for 30 years plus without being painfully familiar with these experiences,i lost a large female Henlei in the same way many years ago,she was part of a trio and guess what, she was the best female of the two....sods law....really hope your female is gravid again....all the best.
Ps im sure your mate Giles will be able to source you a nice male when your ready.

make a makeshift divider with a bunch of 1/2" pvc. you can buy the X's and use them to construct a heavy dute "egg crate".
