I recently bought 3 silver arowana's at about 10-11 inches each. I was told not to feed them feeders (even though it's fun), so I payed a whopping 25 dollars for a bag of Hikari food sticks specifically for arowanas. I was also told to feed them twice a day. The problem is, the LFS never specified how many sticks I should feed them. So how many sticks should I feed them in one serving (i give 2 servings a day, one in the morning and one in evening)? Is around 20 good for all 3 arowanas?

FYI: The arowana's are the only fish in the tank so I do not have to worry about other fish stealing food, and they get along perfectly fine because they were raised together.

arowanas will stop eating when they are full. they will not kill themselves by over eating. the trick is to figure out how much it takes to get them full so there is no leftover food in the tank after feedings and all the fish are satisfied. this all depends on the individual fishes appetite.

as far as how much food to feed? that is really up to you. whatever you feel is healthy for your fish.

Like the above mentioned, the trick is to figure out how much to feed to get them full so there is no leftover in the tank. Feed them till' they stop eating and while you're doing it maybe count how many pellets you're dropping in so the next time you'll know how much to feed.

hey joseph.. i assume you are talking about the hikari tropical food sticks.. at around 11" to 12" and if thats the only food you are feeding them.. they should easily take about 30 sticks each.. but again depends on the fish itself.. like how others have mentioned aros will not stuff themselves.. they eat only what they can... drop in 20 sticks and when they are done drop another 20.. keep goin till they stop..you got your count.. give about 12hrs and repeat again.. see if they eat the same amount or less.. you'd get a fair idea of how you need to feed them when you've done this for about 3 to 4 days rather than decide on a days feeding regime.. cheers with the aros.. post pics of your setup if ya can..
