it's in a 130g with one 4ft fluorescent tube, so the light isn't too bright as is. even with relatively dim lighting, it's usually in that tube you see to the right in the pic.

i have only ever fed it during the day so it always eats with the lights on with no problems.

oh ok cool. ill will start doin that

heres mine, yours probably doesnt eat much because its lazy lol. i have to spot feed it he eats every two days. mostly shrimp and the occasional tetras i put in the tank whenever there's a sale

ha probably. and he wont eat fish i would really like him to eat goldfish. that would be sooooo cool. how did u get him to eat tetras

i didnt get him to, he just goes hunting during the night ive never actually seen him do it but it could be my sen as well. i just feed him by puting the shrimp in his face and he eats.

ok im thinking of injureing the goldfish for him so he may take advantage of it

there are 1,000 better food choices than goldfish. i suggest you do a search on feeder fish here and see some of the reasons why so many people here don't use feeders, especially goldfish.

oh ok. im breeding ghost shrimp for my needlefish so if my toadfish eats them that eould be good. if not ill probably stick with frozen foods

I'm surprised that nobody has said anything about adding salt to the tank.

Never add salt directly into the aquarium with fish when trying to create a correct salinity. This causes massive salinity fluctuations and is like the equivalent of suddenly dipping the fish in salt water from freshwater which can be very risky. The actual undissolved salt too can burn the fishes skin and eyes.

If you do need salt, proper brackish aquarium setups require a hydrometer and an extra tank or bucket to premix the water. Always premix the brackish water. When raising salinity, do it over the course of weeks. I rose mine by no more than .001 in a day and .002 in a week. If I raised it any quicker, my fish stopped eating. While the fish do face changing salinities in the wild, it is not like being in a stream one minute, and then the ocean the next. Fish spend a lot of time swimming upstream to the ocean, or brackish environments. Also, if they are not yet ready for a sudden change, they just swim to waters they prefer. In a tank, this cannot happen.

I say keep yours in freshwater until it seems to need brackish water.

ok thanks that makes alot of sence

This fish is not suited for fresh water. You do need to start making your own brine solution.

I bought a 35 gallon tub from walmart for 15 bucks. I have a heater, and some air stones in the tub to raise the temperature, and circulate the water to dissolve the salt. Have you bought marine salt yet? Regular salt (or just aquarium salt) is not suitable for this application.
