This fish is not suited for fresh water. You do need to start making your own brine solution.

I bought a 35 gallon tub from walmart for 15 bucks. I have a heater, and some air stones in the tub to raise the temperature, and circulate the water to dissolve the salt. Have you bought marine salt yet? Regular salt (or just aquarium salt) is not suitable for this application.

i have to kinda disagree. like a lot of other brackish fish, these too can be (no guarantees) kept happy and healthy long term in pure fresh or pure saltwater, and anywhere in between. i've seen quite a few raised up from tiny fish to monster size without ever touching saltwater.

mixing salt for this fish may not be necessary but it should be something that anyone keeping brackish fish in fresh water is prepared to do.

if the fish stops eating, has body fungus or is acting strange in any way, i would start acclimating it to saltwater.

Indeed, before I started working at my LFS, a customer brought in a 20" dragon goby that was kept it's full life in freshwater, but then some become unhealthy and stunted in freshwater. IMO brackish fish are not as predictable as freshwater or saltwater fish and only the fish can dictate what it really needs rather than "the laws of brackish water fish" which does not exist.
