Reggie,
Try using 2-3 smaller pots. if she has more then one spot if she misses one she can dart to the next. Due to the male's increased size and girth the female will be faster and more agile. She just might need some time to get some distance, so more then one safe pot will make it easier for her to loose him.

Thanks for the advice scott I will get more pots.

So I just got word that because of the cold weather in Rochester (and that my eventual father-in-law doesn't wish to stain in his garage), that my stand won't be stained until it's warmer outside so it can be done outside. This means that the stand won't be done until spring....... So impatient :nilly::nilly::nilly:

o thats sucks. Its gonna be in the 40's here in albany

Maybe that will encourage him to start staining early... I live on long island so the only way I'll see the progress is through the pictures he sends me... in the mail - he's taking ROLL pictures (he's 70) and mailing them to me lol. I'll scan them as they come in, going to be a beastly stand (solid oak 2x4s and 2x6s). I'm just very ready for it, since the tank has been sitting there for a month

So I ended up sort of impulse-buying a red oscar at my LFS recently...:banhim: my 90 gallon I had last year was going to be an oscar tank until it leaked, at which point I had to take the oscar back that I had and give that "dream" up, until now. Kinda felt like I owed it to the little guy :)

Here he is btw, I guess mods can close this thread since it's no longer about my "internal struggle" that I was having.
