Pretty sure this guy is a zaliosus, or Arrow cichlid. Pictures will be less than helpful, so I'll write a manual description of why I think it's a Zaliosus. Pointed beak, half red eyes, long dorsal streamer, vertical dark stripes with wider areas in the midline. Light brownish gold base color. When being harassed it doesn't hide in the inner able hiding places in the bottom, it goes straight to open water like to be able to move more. I know it's gonna be impossible to get an accurate ID without AmphiQueen seeing it live haha. I'll post pics when I get home, just got a call for a car accident. Tow truck to the rescue haha

It all depends on the source you bought it from. The only real way to insure you get a pure amph like this is to buy from a reputable breeder.

Oh I know that Pyru, this was a rescue. I happened to be at the LFS when the lady came in. They had no room and she said she was gonna flush it cause she "already sold that damn aquarium!"

Does that sound like someone who would be buying wild or F1 stock A. zaliosus, or someone that shops at the local Petsmart? Hmmmm.

I got the vibe that it was divorce thing. There had been a 500 custom build on Craigslist for awhile. We have a pet Co and 2 awesome lfs. Petco basically sells guppies turtles and goldfish withe an occasional oscar. However the lfs, both get wild stock and f1. Problem is, they don't really interact so there is no way of tracing it. I spoke to her for awhile and by the sounds of it, he was a hard core fish head like many of us. She had let many of the fish die, but it was an expensive stock list, she made of point of mentioning the thousands of dollars he had "wasted". She also had no clue as to what was in the tank. I guess, only time will offer any real insight as to what this awesome little fish is.
