An experiment: Please define these "gun" terms

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Let's just all say it together, and I'll agree with you: "Assault style weapons do not provide any more protection to the average citizen than a hand gun does, but they are cool to own and shoot! They are fun!" The second amendment only guarantees the right to bear arms, not any arms. You only want them because you are either paranoid or you love guns. Banning assault style semi-automatic weapons will not reduce death in this country. It will only increase the whining by ultra-right wing enthusiasts that make ridiculous claims about safety and second amendment rights.

oh, lol.

Well, personally I respect everyone's positions.

I say that if people don't want to exercise their right to own a gun, that is perfectly OK and completely acceptable. It's their decision. I just don't like the decision being made for me.

And I would have to say, common sense dictates that in any encounter with a home invasion, owning any gun makes you safer...period!

banning assualt arms is useless. most can be modefied and legaly if by owner. the military will still sell surplus. get your permit and be american!

Well, I don't like the last sentence (ultra conservative), but other than that I agree with you 100%. Handgun or assault rifle; it doesn't matter from a safety standpoint. And us conservative types simply don't want to volunteer our rights, we believe we have them for a reason.

But, look at it this way, from a military standpoint nobody is more appreciative of our service members. Anyone I come across in life who has served I thank them for their service with full sincerity.

I'm not 100% sure you're presenting valid arguments here...

You're absolutely right. And in the unlikely home invasion scenario, you would be just as safe with a loaded semi-automatic .22 rifle, a loaded 9mm handgun with a full clip, or a Semi automatic AK47. The only difference is how cool you feel between unlikely home invasions. Actually, I'd feel safer with a 9mm rather than an AK, but that's just me.

I agree, and from a logical standpoint, anyone trying to use a loaded AK47 for home defense in lieu of a handgun is making a tactical error in judgment IMHO.
