Carry what? This thread is about assault weapons. Should everyone have a sling and an AK? Grenades? Or a handgun? I don't feel any safer if I have a handgun walking into North Minneapolis. I don't walk through North Minneapolis. I let the police deal with the morons. And as far as safety, I'm much more worried about dieing in a car acident than in an an assault involving a gun. The numbers are there for the viewing. Cars are more dangerous than guns, even in this country.
cars have been idiot proofed! you can crash and pillows pop out! lol. you cant pop out a pillow when a crack head wants your wallet at rusty knivepoint. and i do think that we should have access to millitary arms if we can afford them.

More people die in:

A. Car accidents (pillows notwithstanding)

B. Robberies involving weapons

So you advocate ownership of the AR-15 and AK 47 semi automatic versions for home protection, because it's your right under the second amendment, or because it's fun to own and shoot them? Which of these is your stance?

I personally think a semi automatic rifle isn't ideal for home protection, and a handgun is an ideal choice, and yes I love to shoot them.

However, I respect the rights of others to own semi automatic rifles for whatever purpose they see fit. Nobody needs to explain why they choose to exercise a right because it's just that; a right.

A right to what?

Own a gun?

Own a rifle?

Own a semi-automatic rifle?

Own a fully automatic rifle?

Own a grenade launcher?

Why does anyone need to? Last attack on US soil involved utility knives.

Excellent point. Guns are illegal in schools, campuses, air-ports, commercial air craft, post offices, etc.

Surly you don't think it coincidence that gun violence targets these facilities do you?

Do you think 9/11 would have happened if a few armed CCW civilians were on those planes? You can't deny the outcome would likely be very different...
