Waiting periods are state laws, with vary state by state. Generally, a gun show has the exact same laws/regulation as a typical retail store.

Here in Missouri, there is no waiting period anyways. And a background check is a background check. You either check it or you don't; there is no half-ass.

You're dealing with a lot of individuals, and many of them do this for a living. Having known people of this trade, I can say that many of them are willing to bend the rules. Sure, state law says whether there is a waiting list or not. Does that mean that every time a gun gets sold at a gunshow there is a background check run or waiting period followed? Most of the times. But if you have enough cash, and and you're dealing with a seedy enough person then not always.

This may not be a problem where you live, but in Texas there's gun's sold at shows without b/g checks all the time.

Well, in an attempt to not monopolize this tread, and let the OP continue his experiment which I already gummed up by not following instructions (sorry!), this will be my last reply.

You are viewing this entire thing wrong. Background checks are all fine and dandy for gun dealers (someone who moves huge volumes of firearms). If they don't do the background check, they need to have their license pulled; simple as that, and thats the type of laws we need.

However, if a private individual is selling their firearm to another private citizen who has the right to own in (e.g. not a felon), then no background check is required; and there is absolutely no problem with that, as per the U.S. Constitution.

an assualt rifle is a weapon originaly designed in germany during ww2 as the strumgewhere(spelling is probably wrong)44/45.they fire a non standard caliber
larger then a pistol but smaller than standard issue.they are designed to usually automatic with semi auto capability.to lay down a large volume of firepower in a short period of time.

IMO an assault weapon is any thing that was built to kill/injure people. I dont see the point of automatic weapons at all. The only thing they are really good at doing is killing people, and seeing how that is wrong, let alone illegal I dont know why people fuss so much about the automatic weapons ban. As far as gun control goes, I own several guns, but all of them are intended for hunting. I am all for restricting handguns, automatic weapons and other guns intended for killing people. I do not believe however, that people shouldnt be allowed to own weapons. Idealy I think the government should restrict the sales of "assault rifles" and other dangerous things, through high taxes and tougher regulations. I dont want the adverage person running around with a gun that can kill hundreds of people in a few minutes, thats just not right. I know its not guns that kill peopls, its people who kill people, but there are way too many crazy people with guns. Anyway, thats just my opinion. I hope there will be tougher regulations in the future, but I do not want recreationial shooting and hunting to be abolished.

Is the rifle I posted a picture of a full automatic assualt rifle?

I have a remingto mod 3600. Its a magazine fed semi-auto matic 30-06 (for those of you that dont know, 30-06 is VERY powerful). Could that hunting rifle not kill very fast and easily?

Keep it coming guys, my point is not to bash anyone here, simply to see what kind of knowledge "non-gunners" have about the recent media buzz words.
