An Update on Lazarus

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
At this size they do that. Filling out all the muscles they have as they grow at times will look bunched up till length catches up and stretch the muscles out more. It's a lot of mass to add an inch of length a month at Lazes size vs a 2in Oscar. Appetite should increase as well, takes more food to add the increasing amount of mass.
Toni at 7in would eat 3 sticks a meal three times a day. By time she was 9in it jumped to seven, at 10in it was ten a meal. Now that she is done with size she changed up to 7 sticks every other day or so.
Also at about 6in mark was giving her freeze dried krill every meal to fuel the Orange explosion.

I really appreciate all the info and experience you've shared. You have been so enlightening and helpful

Did you know that Oscar fry eat the slime coat from mom and dad for nourishment. I saw this a while back, and now think you should watch it, it may be what will be circling your pond staring Laz and Toni, not the wild ones shown

.

I know there are many species of fish that do this but did not realize oscars were among them. Feeding on the slime coat of their parents helps boost their immune systems and I know many of these fish produce different protiens in the slime coat when they have babies than when they dont have them... Makes me wonder if this is originally how milk eventually came to be.

Cute ain't it, that there is truly herding the brood around to munch on everything. Tho the guy making them cross the camera didn't help, but you get the idea. My HRP's were doing this in thier tank, till they decided it was time to make more and let them fend for themselves.
