IMO Long Island is the *perfect* place to have one of these guys. Because there is gonna be an AWESOME NYPost headline when somebody finds that thing in their pool! Haha

All Eunectes are illegal to transport now.
Not all of the people on this site are from the states, we have quite a few from other places like Indonesia or Singapore. Anyone with snakeheads that is in the states has them illegally. Piranhas are also only illegal in a few states- more than half allow them.
These pythons are only illegal to transport across state lines. If they are within the state, it is okay to have as long as there are not any regulations in that state. FL is the only one that I can think of that has a state wide ban on them but I know NYC has a city wide regulation on them too.
But yet there are hundreds of breeders of illegal pets in NY and several other strict states that ARE selling and transporting all over the USA?...and YES they are selling boldly all over the internet for under $200. ANYONE can get them...but yet I am hasseled?
What part about "MFK doesn't condone the buying & selling of illegal species" didn't you get?
show us a link then. If it is as prevalent and rampant as you claim it is you should be able to easily track down a few websites offering illegal animals for sale.

Sorry I didnt realize this site was international, maybe the postings I seen were in places it might not be banned. Like I said though, it is quite easy to obtain, breed, sell, and transport banned species (yes illegally) all over the USA. Im not saying its right, but Im saying that between websties similar to this and legal expos there are hundreds if not thousands of illegal pets in just Long Island alone. Just from the 2years I worked at a local pet shop, I met people with Alligators, people with Anacondas, people with Snake heads, people with Vipers, and even a Gila Monster. Just saying, theres no need to push legalities on me. I am well aware of the laws, and trust me if you knew enough about NY you would know that I hate it here and just for the sake of my pets, Im trying to move far away from this place. But once again Im also gonna say that I am NOT a dumb ass hole who is living in an apartment with huge illegal reptiles and not properly caring for them. All Im saying is legal or not, people are going to do whatever no matter where it may be so what do you expect? It is not completely rare and impossible to see the cases, I dont know what you had in mind so why do you feel the need to hassel ME about it?. MFK may not be condoning anything illegal, but theres NO WAY that you can say there is not a single person on this site who doesnt have something they are NOT supposed to.seriously...PS @ Adamrhh I am not a HE, I am a SHE lol ;-)
it sounded as though you were saying "lots of other people are breaking the law so it is okay for me to break the law as well". That is why you were jumped on. From my experience working at multiple reptile stores and multiple shows, I do not think that it is as prevalent of a problem as you say it is but I have not been to New York either. I do know that illegal things happen, I have worked with the people that import some crazy things but it is not everywhere. USFWS is cracking down HARD on people- I am even under pressure as a legal permitted venomous keeper (trying to renew my permit and they are being dicks about it by sending the paperwork back, making me fill out new forms, making me wait, etc...). Just something to consider.
