Anchor worms ughh!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Sorry this is happening man... You QT consistently so this is kind of disturbing, how long can anchor worm gestate and remain asymptomatic?

That is exactly why it bothers me soo much. I donr know much about anchor worms. Will have to do some research on how long the egg lifecycle is. Busy day ahead of me not much time for fish stuff.

Could be wrong but can also be loose membrane from hitting a rock. It'll happen near the lip creases. Anchor worms usually straight, thin, and forked at the end. Confident that you'll remedy this fast.

My first thought seeing the picture as well. I have seen similar situation with my big ornate once. It was definitely not anchor worm, rather torn membrane as Vancouver has suggested.

That said we are not the ones seeing it in person, but I would look really close at it, you may not have the problem you think you do.

I am hoping you are wrong, in a good way

The first looks like it with the y shape and attachment to the skin.

That doesn't look like anchor worms.anchor worms are usually these black little thing hanging all over the bichir. Try jungle parasite clear or lifeguard from Walmart. I had more success using this mess than any other meds.

Also, anchor worms (crustacean) that attach under a scale or tail usually red and inflamed.

IMG_0632.jpg Depends on the photo I guess. The color will be off.

Not anchor worm on the video. Pluck it off. Monitor the fish.
