Could be wrong but can also be loose membrane from hitting a rock. It'll happen near the lip creases. Anchor worms usually straight, thin, and forked at the end. Confident that you'll remedy this fast.

I agree this is a good possibility. The area is on the endli' leading edge which could easily strike a rock if startled. It would also be odd for a worm to manifest itself this fast given the attention you pay to your fish and the # of close ups, head shots etc you treat us to :)

Manual removal will allow you to closely inspect and determine if it is in fact a worm, and I would suggest this be your first course of action.

If it is a worm, the fork on the end is likely the dual egg sack of a female so the tank will need treatment for sure. If not, then probably best to apply a bit of antiseptic and follow your regular wound care regime.

Don't worry. Anchor worms take a while to reproduce and kill fish. Diflubenzuron kills them easily. Pluck it off and look under a microscope or magnifying glass. You'll be able to tell if it's a worm or skin fray

Agreed. Big healthy fish should not succumb unless multiple worms drain the life out of them or penetrate to their internal organs. Can't see that happening here at all.

Or a piece of fish fillet membrane caught in the crook of her mouth? Did she recently eat large tilapia chunks?

It looks too feathery to be a worm to me. But I don't know. For all the high quality care and love you give your fish, sorry to hear about this. Hope this endli gets better soon. He needs the rocky theme song. Or an eye patch.

Don't blame You for wanting to dose the tank just in case. Specially with those new pbbs
