Anchor worms?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Fair enough and moving on....Here's hoping the OP can successfully treat his fish.

I know people who have taken the fish out squeezed the zits and put neat esha 2000 on them that's just a general anti bacterial treatment

I also who people who have called a vet out who gave the 6 ST injections but he still lost about 3 of them

I couldn't find too much info about this, but it got me thinking after looking the the symtoms. Has anyone tried soaking food in Minocycline (Maracyn two) and feeding. It has a broad spectrum is fairly well absorbed and contains good anti-inflamatory properties.

Anything is worth ago
Not many people have had success with anything

The good news is it doesn't affect other fish

If the fish is almost ceartantly doomed it's worth a try. This seems bacterial not viral so it should respond to the correct med. Without a lab test I can't know if it is gram-negative or positive so a good start would be a broad spectrum antibiotic like minocycline. Most fish infections are gram negative tetracyclines are mostly gram positive, minocycline is a member of the tetracycline family with a broader spectrum of coverage. It is possibile this bacteria is gram positive and standard treatments would not help. As another option It would be interesting to see if Neomycin would work since you said a general antibiotic ointment seemed to help. Neo is available in both topical and oral, Seachem sells noeplex that could be disolved as a food soak and fed as well as be used directly in the tank. I think both suggestions are viable options and should be considered by the OP.

It would be interesting to know what other hobbiest have tried before and what level of sucess if any was achived.

Not doomed I have seen ST live for years with this problem

The zits may scar and they will come and go
It's just a bit nasty to look at

I've never experience this with dats, or any fish I don't think. It sounds nasty. I'm not a huge med guy, but it sounds like some kind of meds is needed to rid or stop

My water is always clean, I do about 35% water changes weekly with a ro/di water. So hope that will clear up the eyes. It's definitely anchor worm from the pics I've been seeing. It's a IT btw. Thanks for all the help.

I'm just bought Dimilin-x from ebay. It's was recommend by someone on here. So thank you. Not sure why I can't reply to messages or upload pictures on here

Dimilin hasn't been availabel for a few years now. Do you know how old the stuff is? There is no experation on it but it starts to breakdown and loose some of it's effectiveness. It was great for anchor worm won't help if the fish has dat disease but lets hope it's not. The Meth blue bath and spot treatment would have gotten them if there wasn't too many. You could also do Meth blue, Furan 2 and metro bath if it is a wider infestation, tis combination is ver effective. I hope the Dimilin does the trick if it is dat disease look at the eariler post I med on this page.
