And it has Begun(muahahahaha)

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Ok, Issack's build is NOTHING like this one, no offense to you but your not exactly in his league. If you also notice that his "frame" is strictly decorative and is attached to the plywood before he assembled.

On another note... you said that you are using drywall screws....think about that for a minute... they aren't meant for this application at all (use flooring screws or standard wood screws)

I'm not trying to be negative I'm just pointing out where you will have problems and giving you solutions to correct what you have already done

well the screws arent a means of support at all. The wood glue will form a tighter bond, the screws are there because i didnt have large enough clamps, most of the times in a build like this i wouldnt use screws at all, and sometimes i use brad nails once i put 3/4" ply inside this, roughly a half galllon of wood glue due to all the coverage area, secure the plywood to the 24-46 1x4"s this thing will be a tank

Andrew...

Dude i would listen to Basslover bro... Hes been around for a bit... Um... im not a carpenter... But dude glue isnt going to hold all the weight and pressure that the water is going to put on the frame work... But hey... Like i said im not a carpenter.... GL with the build bro...

Like cvermeulen says: "Some people object to overkill... but then again if you underkill something, it tends to kill you back."

Glue forms a stronger bond then the wood itself, if it were to break,it would be elsewhere. Ive been doing carpentry for some years now and I apreciate the help. You guys just arent seeing the big picture....Yet, I have to an unexpected trip to st.louis (yay 16 hr drive) so the project is derailed a bit.

Ps perhaps i forgot to mention there will be a 3/4" layer inside the tank and 1/4 or 1/2" OUTside the tank.

been doin this for a little while, didnt build the house just the decks

Again as I said you know better what you are planning than we do, Good luck on the trip, I'm interested to see what you have in store for this build.

I have to give you props if you built that whole deck with a screw driver and no drill... I mean you did say that your last "attempt" at building a tank was a failure due to poor tools and no drill... didn't you?

AndrewMack;3147250; said:
So my last plywood tank attempt did not go well. I was working with cheap tools and started the project on a bad note. So now that i have a good skil saw and an actual drill( i was assembling the last one with a screw driver) a ton of large clamps, angle clamps, and ratchet strap clamps i am going to give this another try.

Yep you did

ANYWAY I'm really not trying to start this type of thing with you, you seem like a decent guy and I'll give you your due for tryin to git er done.

no i had proper tools for the deck lol Nice try though. When i got stationed in florida last year i attempted to build a tank but all my tools where back home in storage. So now that I have moved my belongings to my new duty station I have my tools
