I'm going to have to agree with this. It would never occur to me to combine Trigger fish with FW fish since they aren't found naturally in FW.

Bull Sharks can go from SW to FW because they have special organs that can regulate their systems to adapt to the differing water conditions. Trigger fish and other SW fish do not possess this organ. It is only a matter of time before that Trigger fish dies, IMO.

I'm in agreement with thecanuck on this one, this fish will not have its normal lifespan, it will die, its just a matter of time. Salt water fish are designed to absorb water rapidly, and to excreat salt rapidly (to make up for the rapid water loss to the salt). So without the salt the fish is just going to absorbe more and more water untill his cells start to rupture aka will have multiple organ failures. I really hope this is just a stunt picture and you have not intention to keep these fish together, its not intelligent and its not safe or fair to the fish. Your lucky these are fish and not mammals, as if you did something this stupid with cats or dogs you would be charged with animal cruelty and neglect.

Where is your extensive research behind this and months of acclimation? Especially with a trigger already that size even what your trying to do could not be accomplished due to the size of the fish. Maybe if you where breeding them or had a fresh batch of babies. Even then they would die younger and slowly rot in fresh water.

first overstocking is okay, then jdm, now this.... MFK is going down because of stuff like this...

keeping the fish in as natural conditions as possible is best

It is no secret that there are a few fish that can live in full salt, guppies being one. This does not excuse just dropping a full marine fish in a FW tank without any acclimating beforehand.

This is irresponsible fishkeeping.

A "freshwater dip" is a good way to treat some parasites in saltwater fish but attempting to acclimate a trigger to freshwater is just stupid
